It was a busy morning. Getting ready, picking up last minute items, running around, traveling to and from the elopement location… typical adventures of a wedding day. In the days prior, there was a lot of rain in the area. Even on the day of the elopement, the morning began with light rain. While this made me nervous about whether or not we should move forward with our plans, we decided to go for it anyway and I’m so glad we did!
Lois and I have talked and gotten to know each other through social media, but we finally met for the first time at a mutual friends’ baby shower. Her and her husband, Prince, have been married for eight years. That surprised me because of how young they look. After talking with them, they explained their unusual courtship (or lack thereof) and how they had a short, long-distance relationship. Then how they quickly eloped when they were young. For that reason, they never really dated, so they’ve spent the last eight years courting and getting to know each other.
When I asked Lois about working with me to create a styled elopement, she was thrilled. After she explained how her and Prince originally eloped, she expressed how excited she was to get a “second chance” to experience eloping with her husband. Except this time in the way they never really had a chance to before. Hearing that warmed my heart and I couldn’t have been happier with how this styled shoot came together.
Once Prince + Lois were all ready to go, we drove two and a half hours to the dunes. The drive was beautiful. None of us had ever taken the drive before, so we were all swept away by the views. Big, puffy clouds from the previous rains enveloped the skies.
Once we arrived at the dunes, we unloaded our things, touched up the bride, and hiked to just the right spot. Sunset was just beginning and we didn’t leave until after sundown. We got back into town around 10:30 PM, and made a pit-stop at Inn N Out Burger for a late dinner. It was a perfect day.
