A Backyard Quarantine Wedding
This day was not what Keith + Savannah had originally planned. When we had met to discuss their original wedding plans in the months prior, they had envisioned a big wedding on a golf course at the end of May 2020. Due to the pandemic of COVID-19, all of their plans had to suddenly and drastically change. While it was difficult for them to move forward with their wedding, their day turned out more beautiful than I think they had ever expected.
The day was partially cloudy, but mostly bright and sunny. The air was warm and there was a soft breeze. Savannah was so ready to be married. She was so calm and collected. Her sister doubled as her wedding planner and was busy getting her own backyard ready for the ceremony.
Savannah shared a beautiful first look with her father just before the ceremony began. It was filled with emotion and joy. Just a short time later, they walked down the aisle together towards Savannah’s soon-to-be-husband, Keith.
They exchanged their vows in front of their ten guests of family and friends. Not to mention all of their other guests that streamed in virtually. After the ceremony, they were congratulated by both their physical and virtual guests.
We walked to the front of the house, and they were surprised with “drive-by” congratulations from additional guests that couldn’t be there due to social distancing. They honked in their cars and cheered up and down the street, while waving and holding up signs to congratulate them.
The three of us then walked to an intimate trail just behind the backyard of Savannah’s sisters’ home to take some portraits at sunset. Afterwards we headed back to the backyard so that they could enjoy their dessert reception together along with just a few remaining guests. They were met with another surprise. As they ate their cake and drank their champagne under the twinkling lights of dusk, they watched a video that was made just for their wedding day. Family and friends wanted their day to be as special and meaningful as possible, so they sent them their love, their congratulations, their advice, and wished them happily ever after.
